  Create an alpha channel in FCP

  I keep getting handed logos with white backgrounds. Is there a way to create an alpha channel on such a logo (tiff) in FCP? I’ve seen the great tutorial by Richard Harrington and it seems a snap to add the alpha channel in CS (which I don’t have), but people keep sending me jpegs and tiffs with no alpha channel. Is there a way I can add the AC in FCP without doing a matte (which always seem to come out jaggy)??? Thanks for insight and suggestions. –Dave
