Does anyone out there know how to create a “spot shadow” or similar way to have a football or basketball player followed around during a play. Sometimes it’s done with an arrow and sometimes a “spot shadow”.

    Thank you.

Dou you want a shadow (darker area) on the player or to follow the player with a lighter area? (that would be my choice).

Anyway, you put a copy of the media on another track on top of (and in sync with) the footage.

Make the top footage darker, then use the cookie cutter to create the ligher area which will be the original footage showing through. Then keyframe the cookie cutter position as needed.

    Thanks, Gary. I’ll try that.

I recently used the method Gary described to highlight the mane of a horse that was loping around a round pen. First I put in keyframes about every 15 frames and then went back and added keyframes between those as needed. Worked perfectly.
