This should be simple, but I am trying to create a 3D room with depth in After Effects to move a keyed actor around. So far, I have a plane as a back wall, and one as a floor (I don’t want to create the 4 planes like Andrew Kramer’s). But despite them being made into 3D layers with the keyed actor in front (also as a 3D layer), to me, the room looks flat. I have added lights, but I still am not getting any depth.

This should be simple, so any help would be appreciated.

We’re going to need a clip, a still, or a screenshot of it so we can see what’s going on in order to offer much help.
Do you have a camera in the scene? Does it have good focal length?

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for responding. Here’s an image

And I do not have cameras in this scene. I probably should, right?

For now, I ended up making a real 3D room in C4D, but I still want to know how to do it this way for the sake of simplicity, and when I may be at a place that doesn’t have any 3D apps.

There are no visual cues here to indicate depth. No lines converging or anything. If the floor had a pattern or the wall were at an angle, it would be more likely to look like it has depth. Even if there were something on the back wall that the audience knew the size of (window, lamp, etc.) for reference, it would help.
