CrazyTalk Animator Pro problems with Vegas (and itself!)
Hello,
Has anyone used Reallusion CrazyTalk Animator Pro with Sony Vegas 8 yet?
I am trying to use it on Windows 7 and discovered no control over the export output, and the files are either 5.5 GB AVI (too large to move to the computer that has Vegas (which is XP) or it comes out as a 5 MB MP4 and very poor quality. The program is limited to 2000 frames, but I cannot fit my 1 minute audio file to it if I use any body animation at all.
The sound in the MP4 is totally unacceptable. It is in a deep hollow bucket at the bottom of the well!. Other export options give “sorry, format unsupported”, or some such. That makes no sense. Why would they give a lot of export options, then say ‘format not supported” in their own program when you choose them? And then not support it anyway?. One odd thing was that it made me “activate the MP4 codec” online through Reallusion’s member area. So, whatever got “activated” is likely a non-standard version? It won’t it let me ‘”activate” any other codecs. and this is supposed to be a stand-alone animation editing program…that falls short.
The MP4 works both in Quicktime and in VLC, but has horrid audio, so I loaded it into Vegas to attach the original, crisp, wav file to it..
However, loading the MP4 file into Vegas Pro 8 drops the sound out completely! Why is there no sound? This is not a good discovery (even if it is poor audio), especially when the purpose of the program is to lipsync audio with facial animation!
And here is the weirdest part…
When I try to sync the original wav file with the MP4 animation in Vegas, well… the video track is LONGER than the audio track – by about 45 seconds (yet it is only matching a 15 second audio segment.)
Shouldn’t it be the other way around, since the MP4 is the compressed track and the wav is uncompressed? Obviously, I can’t sync to the animation. Well, I probably could, very tediously, but why bother when it should have already been done in CrazyTalk Animator?
And no, this is not the trial version. When I purchased the Pro Version (before testing exportation…silly me! ..but previous experience with CrazyTalk 5 let me think all would be fine) it made me uninstall the trial to load the Pro version.
This is not CrazyTalk itself, which has always worked beautifully for me, including inside Vegas, but the new CrazyTalk Animator Pro that replaces the facial only version, and adds body animation and bones…it is just not working with Vegas well enough to fix the export quality errors or the synching.
If this was the trial version, then not having any control over export settings would make sense, but this is not the trial version, and I am very disappointed at the lack of control, as well as all the “unsupported format” errors on the other options, and the weird sound dropout and video sizing of the codec in Vegas..
Has anyone hit this problem? Does anyone know what might be wrong before I go making a fool of myself with Reallusion over something that might be simple and overlooked on my part?
Thank you!
Crystal
