No back ups whatsoever. Still – the files are huge. I will keep them on file in case anyone else reads this thread and has any other advice.

Sorry i can’t help more but I get the feeling you messed up your process somewhere in the chain. I would back up those media files to another drive, then run disk warrior on your original drive and see if that might restore something. I repeat, back up your files first before running disk warrior.
