crazy render time
Hello all,
The only pro work I do anymore is a weekly 30 minute church service that is uploaded to their youtube channel.
My render times for these in 1080p used to be between 15 to 20 minutes.
I’m rendering one now that is showing almost 2 hours and I can’t figure out why.
I just bought a new case for a system I “built” 6 years ago along with a new GPU (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1422291-REG/evga_03g_p4_6153_kr_geforce_gtx_1050_3gb.html)
I noticed Vegas Pro prefs shows it automatically wanted to use it for rendering which it didn’t for my older card and figured my renders would be even faster.
Once I noticed it was rendering at a snails pace I turned the option off and it made no difference.
Can anyone tell me what I should check next?

Hi Grazie, no I’m on Pro 12 (I’ve been reluctant to updating since I retired).
That said, the other card (Radeon HD6970) rendered at about half the real time.
Vegas recognized the new card and automatically selected it for rendering but what used to take 15 minutes for 30 minutes of 1080p now takes 2 hours…the same time when switched off.

Put the old GPU back in. In my experience up until VP17, Vegas was fasted on the AMD GPUs.
VP17 turned this around and now the NVIDIA cards are faster. The Vegas programmers are working on improving the AMD GPU performance but not there yet. Soon I hope.
