I’ve got a project that was shot with a couple varicams and I’m having a problem in the edit that I can’t quite figure out. We’ve pulled in the varicam footage over firewire and are cutting together the rough on a native DVCProHD timeline using a Kona LH card to output the project to our SD production monitor. No problems there, the footage looks like what you’d expect. The problem I’m having is when I then take the project into an SD sequence to give me more freedom to scale and move things around, I begin to get all kinds of nasty crawling (at least it looks kinda like dot crawl) along any hard lines in the picture (edges of tables, window frames, books ect). Any ideas what this is?
Also, when I’ve run a couple test DVD’s through compressor, they keep coming out much darker than the origional footage. I’ve got everything set at 7.5IRE… what am I missing here? It’s almost like the darks are getting darker somewhere in the encode.
I’m just having problems, someone help.
