  • CRASHING upon project open! Help me, please!

Help me please. I am running FCP-HD (4.5) on a daul 2ghz G5 and have been editing a project for the last couple weeks without a hitch. Earlier today, I was finishing up my sequence and decided to export, for the first time ever, a Quicktime using the ever-anticipated H.264 codec that came with QT version 7. After exporting the QT, I was quite impressed with the file size and beautiful quality of the movie. But, when I went back to FCP after viewing the clip, it crashed! HARD. When I proceeded to re-open the latest autosave project file, it would show me the offline clips I would click “OK” and it crashed again. Now it does it EVERY time. At the same point.

Now, I’ve tried: 1. Trashing the FCP preference file several times 2. Reparied my permissions using Disk Utility and 3. Opening older Autosave Project Files from earlier in the day.

Nothing works. Same result. CRASH. Open…CRASH. Oh, wait!…CRASH!

Can someone please assist me in resolving this ridiculous hiccup. Not fun.

Thanks a bunch. You guys rock!

    Hi
no expert, but in my limited experience you’ve tried it all and it sounds like only a full uninstall and reinstall of FCP will work!

    Do you have nortons running?

No I do not have Norton running on this box. However, other projects will open just fine. There is something in this particular project that seems to be corrupted. I’ve trashed all the source files that could possibly be the culprit. No difference. Same response. I am at a complete loss. I’m wondering if it might have been a system response to the QT 7 update. I updated QT soon before this started happening. Anyone having issues with the new Quicktime?

I’ve been using FCP since version 1 and this is a new phenom.

    Still wondering…
