It is about a 9 minute video with three-to-four layers, some minor pan and crop, 3:1 compression and a volume envelope (which is busier than I would like it to be. Next time I will try 2:1 compression).

I set Dynamic RAM Preview to 0, rebooted the machine, killed AVG and Symantec Backup Exec. I am rendering to Sony AVC, 16:9 Widescreen HD Internet 30p.

Windows Task Manager shows 17 processes. Vegas is around 850,000K, then there are two at 25,000K, two at 9K, and all the rest are below that. 61 processes.

CPU usage is fluctuating between 36 and 90%, but mostly it hovers around 66-67%.
    Memory usage hovers around 2.8GB.

I have 8GB physical RAM installed, 4GB ReadyBoost RAM, and a 12GB paging file (static). Honestly, I am thinking of deleting the paging file, because I haven’t used anything near my physical RAM.

    Physical Memory (MB)
    Total 8124
    Cached 5187
well, there, it just crashed again.

It keeps on crashing at about 12% progress.

    Any ideas?

The files are AVCHD. As I recall, Sony just fixed an AVCHD crashing problem in version 9.0a. I was going to put off the upgrade until after this project, but now I am thinking maybe I need to.

Is it possible to install 9.0 and 9.0a at the same time? Will I lose anything if I go to install 9.0a, and then run this project again under 9.0a?

I am thinking maybe I should take a disk image, and then try downloading the 9.0a version, and then run the project under 9.0a, to see if that helps. Does that sound like a good idea? Or is that a bad one?

Thanks for your advice and help.

It is at 70% and still rendering on 9.0a.

    Good job, Sony!
