So Premiere CC (newest version) has been locking up and a general pain the ass. I have to quit and it all goes away, but then I have to force quit as it stays open in the background. Does that at least once every few hours. So I had Adobe tech take over my computer and they updated the CUDA drivers and then it got WORSE… like I got the grey screen saying the computer must restart.

So obviously I had the guy remove the cuda driver… Seems like it locks up about as much as before but
exporting now take 2-3 times as long as before? Is that maybe because he put it to software vs. GPU under the Project Settings? Also if I wanted to try updating the Cuda drivers again maybe I get a different version?
He installed 7.0.36 (which the CUDA page says this about:

Supports all NVIDIA products available on Mac HW.
Note: this driver does not support the older generation GPUs with SM1.x. Please download CUDA driver 6.5.45 which supports SM1.x.

Maybe I should try 6.5.45 which says this:

Note: this driver does not support GeForce GTX980 and GTX970. Please download the equivalent CUDA driver 6.5.46 which supports GeForce GTX980 and GTX970

This is the card I actually have: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB graphics
    iMac 3.4 i5 running 10.9.5

Any ideas at all? I did the thing where I fixed the read/write permission on all the Adobe sub folders?
Any other things I can try?

    Thanks,
    Harry

Switch to OpenCL for GPU acceleration (and you have to do a few manual steps to completely uninstall the CUDA driver which might be the info DRW can give you). There is an ongoing problem using CUDA that, last I heard, seemed to an issue that Nvidia needs to address.

Harry is still on Mavericks, so in theory he should not be having the Cuda issues most here are reporting under Yosemite. Some have reported having the same issues under Mavericks, but I’m not, nor are any of my friends and clients who have proper clean installs of the OS and the proper Nvidia and Cuda drivers.

Put me in the Mavericks column. I’m on Mavericks w/CUDA 6.5.46 and have to run OpenCL. When I was on Mountain Lion w/the same version of PPro and CUDA I didn’t have any problems.

Well, you too should call me tomorrow Andrew… We can compare notes on our systems to determine what’s different and why yours isn’t up to snuff.

In the middle of a gig and all is going well with OpenCL and I don’t want to gum up the works. When I wrap this project though I’ll give you a call, David.
