Look in the AUTOSAVE VAULT. Not in there? The default location for that is in the DOCUMENTS folder, FINAL CUT PRO DOCUMENTS. But it might not always be there. Look in your FCP preferences to see if you have it set to another location.

There’s also a way to do this without knowing where it is. Open the project and in the FILE menu choose RESTORE PROJECT. It’ll then look in the autosave vault for the latest backup.

Shane, I always turn Autosave off… Looks like Restore Project looked for Auto Save. Thanks.

[Blake Porter] ” I always turn Autosave off…”

Why? That’s your insurance policy! Well, now you see why you need to have it on.

but I Apple S constantly… Is Auto Save different?

Yes…Autosave is when the application will automatically save in an archive at regular intervals. So the entire project will be backed up in the Autosave Vault…with multiple copies. Defaults to every 30 min, and 25 copies. I change that to be every 10-15 min, as I accomplish a lot in 15 min. If you don’t press CMD-S often, nothing gets saved, not even the main project.
