Crash on importing files – unmanged exception

Copy the file locally. This has the advantage of using the network drive as a backup/archive and the local copy as a “sandbox”. I have a 1TB RAID 0 where I do all of my work locally and it performs very well.

Another issue is, when I have vegas open and working etc everytime i jump out to another app like photoshop or even just looking thru my folders on my drives WHEN I JUMP BACK IN BY CLICKING ON THE VEGAS panel vegas takes AGES (SLOW) to respond to my command.

Does anyone else have this issue???

It sounds like you might have your media on slow drives. By default, Vegas closes all the file handles when it looses focus so that you can work on files in another application. The delay you are seeing (which I’ve never experienced because I always work on RAID 0 drives) is Vegas opening all the file handles again to see what may have changed.

If you want to disable this go to Options | Preferences | General and uncheck:

[_] Close media files when not the active application
[_] Close audio and MIDI ports when not the active application

This should fix your problem but understand that you will NOT be able to edit an image in Photoshop that Vegas is using on the timeline after making this change.
