Crackly/static audio from bad mic connection, best way to reduce?
Hi guys,
So I filmed an interview recently where half of the audio is almost ruined with static from a bad microphone connection.

I’ve tried using the noise print and reduction process in audition, but i have to really push it to the limit to reduce the noise to the point where her voice sounds just too distorted, thin and unnatural. That would be fine if i could bring the lower ranges back in but it still sounds alien.
Does anyone have a go to method they would recommend in this situation?

i’d first run declip, then declick, then adaptive noise reduction. enable its ‘noise output only’ checkbox so that if you hear voices, then you have the wrong settings. also, change its frequency selection so that you ignore normal vocal ranges as well. play with the FFT sizes. usually 4096 is a good starting point. You could also try a noise print where she isn’t talking for noise reduction effect.
