I have a project that’s a recording from OBS of gameplay. It’s quite a lot of footage (about 2 hours) but has been cut down to about 1 hour now all together. The file is an MP4 and is 60fps. I would obviously get more CPU usage when rendering, but this project is suddenly eating up around 75-80% of my CPU just having it open. I’ve played with GPU acceleration settings and can’t get anything to make this better. When I’m in a blank project, it uses around .2% CPU, so I know it’s definitely project-related. It’s just odd because it wasn’t doing this for the past several times I’ve been editing it.

    Kasia,

Reset Vegas. While holding down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys, double left click on the Vegas Pro desktop icon. In the opo-up check ‘Delete all cached application data’, then click on ‘Yes’. This will do a full reset returning Vegas to the original installation setup. It will also delete all cached application data, which builds up over time and sometimes causes Vegas to do strange things. Good Luck

    George,

I’ll give that a try when I’m home. Is there any way to reset the cache without resetting Vegas? I have a particular setup, but I believe you can save your setups, too, right? If so, I’ll just save that and reset; just curious if there’s a way.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Kasia,

You may be able to save some things, like your desktop layout, but other things like Toolbars and Keyboard setups, I don’t think so. You have most likely are ready saved your FX presets, etc. But, I understand, it’s often a pain, ,,,

Wait Kasia, I just remember reading about deleting the application data file outside of Vegas. Give me some time to peck around and see if I can find it.

    Hi Kasia,

Here are two resources I found (not the one I remember seeing a while back, but should work) you can check out which may prevent you from doing a reset.

    Kasia,

I just tried deleting everything from the ‘Temporary files’ folder and restarted Vegas Pro 15. It appears all my settings remained, such as my toolbar scripting shortcuts. Of course I don’t know that will fix any problems, because I do not have any problems currently.

I hope you will post back what id any of these options you have tried and if they solved anything.

    Best Regards……George

This may be useful information for anyone else with this issue, so I’ll give what’s happening:

Clearing the temp folder has dropped the usage to about 60-65%, so a slight improvement but still not quite right.
Trying the ‘delete application cache’ solution, however, did work! I’m only using about 0.2% again.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate it!
