Create a Tattered Flag Using After Effects and 3D Flag Zaxwerks 3D Flag is an awesome plug-in for creating all kinds of dynamic waving flags, pennants, banners and backgrounds. In this tutorial, CreativeCOW leader, John Dickinson demonstrates how to use After Effects to turn a relatively unrealistic flag into one that’s old and tattered with loads of character. To complete this tutorial you will also need Cycore’s CC Toner, included on the After Effects install disk.

Just in time for our Fourth of July celebration, John Dickinson has provided us with a great starter for our “Old Glory” motion graphic. Add a few fireworks with Building Your Own 3D Particle Generator from Dan Ebberts and you’re done. Of course, this tutorial also works with everyone’s flag, so if you’re not in the US, substitute a graphic of your own flag. Have fun!
