Creating That Old Film Look with FCP

Do you want to create that old film look with out purchasing expensive plug-ins? Unfortunately, Quick Time’s special effects settings create phony looking scratches. This article by Stephen Smith explores how to add that extra bit of pizzazz without breaking the bank.

But it doesn’t supply you with the key component to a true film look, which is converting 60i video to 24p, which is where the plugins come in…

It’s more the motion than the look, eh Graeme? 😉

Or better yet, 12 FPS for that REALLY old-school look!

I have to agree though that 60i with old film damage looks really weird. It needs progressive spatial reduction to make it feel right.
