[jon smitherton] “Maybe or maybe not depending if you’re christian or not.”

I think it depends on other criteria as this former Jew, now agnostic, doesn’t find the image offensive at all (except for the color balance, which is the point, after all.)

One thing I do find offensive is my inability to grasp many software concepts easily, so thank you Walter for your informative explanation of this topic.

I think there are a great many things to be offended and outraged by in today’s world. Important things, especially in my country (the U.S.A.) Sorry Jon, but I really don’t see this as one of them.

    Regards,
    David

Walter, sorry your excellent sharing had to be diminished by religious comment, of all things. This is not the place for that.

Give us more! (tutorials, that is!)

[jon smitherton] “You would think that the Cow would disallow images that have any religious slant”

No offense, but I seriously thought it was a joke commenting on the camera angle. If so, I am laughing my head off, if not, then sorry you took offense. Documentaries are meant to show you sides of life that you might not see everyday. It seems as if this image has really affected you.

It must mean someone is doing their job correctly.

How someone could be offended by seeing an image of a CHURCH is beyond me. How freaking sensitive are you? If I saw an image of a Buddist (sp) temple, or Muslim Mosque, or Jewish Temple…WHATEVER…in a video about HOW TO DO SOMETHING, it doesn’t affect me in any way.

I too thought it was a joke until the follow up comment.

Jon…grow up. Get a pair. Stop reading too much into things.

Happy to help. I’ll definitely be doing more short tutorials and I have a full Introduction DVD that I’m frantically trying to finish as I type this. 🙂

Keep up the good work walter!

    And now:
I dont mean to offend anyone now:
For an european – used to different customs etc . it is sometimes strange to see what upsets some/few/many americans….

    One example:

During the School bombings in Beslan ( with all the russian children killed) – fox news showed the dramatic newsfootage of the children beein evacuated, severely wounded, and the dead bodies of others.
European countries showed the same footage.

What Fox censored, on the other hand, was the footage of the children beeing evacuated that were naked ( and many were )
…. but the carnage and blood scenes were let through…

To an european that seems a bit strange. and the outrage over the church pix in Walters example does as well….

( If I had to choose whether i wanted to let my 12 year old son watch graphic violence or very soft porn – i would go with the soft porn )

Dont wanna start an argument here- but used it as an example on how different the US and Europe can sometimes be…..

NOt saying its WRONG – just saying that I find it strange, and fascinating:-)

Walter. U do a fantastic job!
( P.S how do u have time to edit at all – with all the cow involvement? U cannot be married 😉

    [becker] “One example:”

You know that’s a wonderful example you cited. I worked at CNN from ’90-’95 and it was very intriguing to me what we censored and what I could see on worldwide news via satellite in the newsroom. Americans have some very strange rules on what can and cannot be shown. I remember during the first Gulf War in 1990 a reporter did a story about horrors found in Kuwait which was completely watered down by the powers that be over some very graphic footage which in reality should have been included in the story. It wasn’t there to be graphic, it was there because it was reality.

[becker] “( P.S how do u have time to edit at all – with all the cow involvement? U cannot be married ;-)”

I am very happily married to a woman who allows me to do what I do everyday. It’s because of her that I even have a successful business and she supports me well. As for all the Cow involvement, it’s called “Rendering.” During renders I look at the laptop to see what’s going on in the pastures. 🙂

Me, I’d recommend that you paint the inside of your glasses black so that you don’t see anything that offends you.

I always laugh when the same people that tell people of faith that they should turn off the TV if they don’t like what they see, are the first to want to take away someone else’s right to express themselves.

Talk about intellectual hypocrisy. Whatever happened to progressive tolerance?

    Sad, really sad.
