    Hi,
I’m editing together some old family video from 1996 shot on an old Hi-8 camcorder in Sony Vegas 12. My father ‘burnt-in’ the date stamp at the start of every day. I want to cover this up with a black background and overlay my own titles.

The problem is I can’t figure out the best way to cover up the date stamp with a pain black strip. I’d ideally like it to fly in from the right and fly out again.

    See an example below:

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Stephen

One simple way is to use a generated media solid black. You can mask it to make whatever shape you wish and move it around as you wish using the position control. Just put it on a track above your video.

    Thanks,
Yes that worked, had tried that before but hadn’t thought to resize the generated media. I have even got it flying in and out using the Event Pan / Crop.

    Thanks again.
