Couple of colour matching questions
I’m compositing some greenscreen footage with 3D rendered plates. I’ve read Brendan Coots’ miraculous tutorial on colour matching. Works wonders for someone who can’t tell his reds from his elbows. I’m looking for other approaches, tutorials, tricks. Just to have options.
Photoshop has an interesting colour matching thing, not quite automatic, but almost. Does AE7 have an equivalent that’s worth trying out?
Also, Mr. Coots, along with others I’ve read, seem to take for granted that the foreground should be adjusted to matched to the background. Why not the other way around? Why not adjust the background? I can’t imagine any reason for it, but I ask because I’ve yet to find a single article that does it this way. With such overwhelming consensus, there must be a reason.

You should change the “wrong-looking” video to match the “right-looking” video. 🙂 Maybe the writers are assuming that the background has been colour-corrected. They might also mean “light the foreground to match the background”, since, presumably, you have control over the foreground lighting, and the background has already been shot. They might be referring to the *quality* of light, that is, sharp, high-angled, soft (etc.) to match the sunny or overcast light of the background.
Sorry, I don’t know of any options aside from using standard colour-correction tools and my eye.
