Countdown
Posted by Duane Fulk on June 27, 2006 at 2:54 pmDoes anyone know of a plug-in that will create a countdown. I need to go from 15:00 to 0:00. I’ve done it in the Illusion efx, but it doesn’t look that great. Any suggestions? Thanks

June 27, 2006 at 9:01 pmHow about an aston! No, only joking. If you have access to ae the numbers filter will do the job, with all the usual font variations.

June 28, 2006 at 8:11 pmThe last one we did was a 30:00 countdown on an old Texas! Thanks for the suggestion about AE. The problem yesterday was the gfx guy was busy and had the AE box tied up. I did it by using the Illusion efx timecode for 15:00, rendered it for about 50:00 and then played it back in reverse while recording on the digi deck. Then I diged that into AVID and layed it in, put a luma key on it and it works, sort of…. Not the recommended way to spend the afternoon! I would still like to find a plug in that would count down.
Thanks…

June 29, 2006 at 6:31 pmYou can create a countdown leader when you digital cut. However you must be in local mode not remote to access this option.

June 30, 2006 at 4:11 pmYes. But this isn’t leader, it’s a countdown that will be on a large projection screen for a break in a meeting, i.e., “return in 15:00”. It’s keyed over video and stays up for 15min. to tell the attendees when to come back. I found a source in VisArts graphic generater we use for lower thirds in broadcast. Thanks for all the suggestions.
