  • Could someone using PPro check this please ?

    Hi,

I upgraded my workstation and installed PPro 2.0 and the Decklink 5.4 drivers. I have the feeling something went wrong with the driver install because I’m having sound problems (sync an levels are not right)

Could someone working with Premiere Pro 2.0 check in the preferences/audio harware section what’s the name of the default audio device ?

In my case the default audio device is listed as “Premiere Pro Windows sound”. It’s the only choice I have. I don’t remember clearly, but I have the impression I should be able to select something like a “Decklink Audio” there.

    Regards

That’s right. “Premiere Pro Windows Sound” is the only choice, whereas with 1.5, I think “Decklink Audio” did appear there. Having upgraded to 2.0 and installed 5.4 as you have, sync and audio levels in my case are OK, just as they were with 1.5.

Thanks Bill, now I’m really wondering what’s the cause of my problems. I’ll do some more tests…

    Bill,

Could you check another thing ?

In the Device Manager, in the “Sound, video and game controllers” section, I see multiple entries amongst which :

    – Blackmagic Decklink
    – Blackmagic Decklink Audio

Is that the case on your workstation too ? Or do you only have one entry there ?

    Regards

    Thanks again.

That’s very strange. I went into the BIOS to deactivate the onboard audio controller. Then booted again. Windows is working fine, and I still get sound in Windows because it’s configured to use the Decklink Audio.

But if I now launch PPro, I get an error message saying “The currently installed soundcard driver does not support direct sound input. Recording audio is not possible”.

This leads me to think that I have sound problems because PPRo is somehow using the motherboards audio controller.

I checked my settings in the audio hardware and mine has the “decklink audio” hardware like it did in PP1.5. Maybe somethign did go wrong with your installation Donat.

Adrian, try to put qucktime photo jpeg mov on your time line together with BMD uncompresed with your settings “decklink audio”, and you will get no audio at all. If you change to Premiere Pro Windows Sound audio plays fine with mixed timeline.

I have also 2 BMD Decklink instances in sound, video and game controlers, and I was too having Decklink Audio Asio in PPro1.5. I have also problems with first few openings of a projects made with 1.5 in 2.0 all related to audio. I have also disabled onboard audio on X6DAE, and PPro 1.5 and 2.0 have problems with this because decklink dont support asio input wihout video.

Yes, thanks Adrian. I found a workaround.

Adrian, on your workstation, was PPRo 1.5 installed before you installed PPRo 2.0 ? Or is it a new workstation on which you have never installed 1.5 ? I’d guess you had PPro 1.5 installed on your machine.

Same question for you Bill. I think you might have a problem because the support guys from BMD told me that I should see a “Decklink Audio” entry in the audio hardware section of PPRO 2.0.

I’ve found a workaround for me problem, it involves installing PPRO 1.5 and reinstalling the BMD drivers.

Hmmm. I’ll check it out. Sort of like having a terrible disease for which there are no symtoms.

I think BMD needs to step forward to resolve this issue or issue instructions on how to resolve it for those of us with PP2.0 where “Decklink Audio” does not appear in the Audio Hardware.

Audio is enabled on my MB (SM X5DA8), just as it was with 1.5., and I still have Quicktime 6.5.2 installed.

I installed PP2.0 to a freshly-formatted hdd, following a freshly installed OS (XP Pro, Sp2). I installed BMD 5.3 (which didn’t work and was promptly uninstalled). I installed 5.4 when it was released a few days later. Though it seems I recall some kind of message about audio when I first opened a 1.5 project, the project eventually opened and the audio played back just fine.
