Could not open the project file with write access.
Hello – I’m new to Premiere and have been using Sony Vegas for years. I’m just learning my way around the interface and its great so far. However, when I go to save a new or an existing project I keep getting this error message. “Could not open the project file with write access. The File may be locked or you may not have access to write to this location. Select ‘SaveAs’ from the File Menu to save the project to a new location.”
I’m not sure what to do as I haven’t encountered this so often in the past and am able to write other files to the folders I’m discussing. Also, when I do SaveAs to a new location and then try to Ctrl s to save the file after having worked on it I get the same message.
I really appreciate any insights or help you might be able to share.

Have you checked the properties of the file to make sure you have write access and not just read access? This has nothing to do with Premiere, but can be checked in Windows Explorer or the the Mac Finder, depending what OS you’re on.

I’m fairly certain that’s where your issue lies. I suggest you work locally and use the network drive only to backup media and projects. Is that possible?Thanks,
