    thanks a lot!

Which is the best program for creating mpeg2’s from lossless?

If you have an uncompressed file, will DVD Studio Pro do it for me?

What about feeding DVD studio pro with a Codecprocessed file like QT with animation codec?

    Best Regards,

If you render to Animation codec out of AE, you don’t really even have to do the compressor step, you can just import the Animation codec file directly into DVDSP. Either method works, but DVDSP does seem to offer better feedback and control over fine tuning the final file size of the MPEG-2, which can be important if the video is long.

Also, Dave, on the Quicktime/MPEG issue. I imagine it’s similar to them charging people $1.99 for 802.11n activation software for Macbooks. They only did it due to accounting laws that prohibited them from giving the product away because R&D dollars went into it and were written off in some particular way. Something along those lines…

    Hey Dave,

Have you had any issues with Compressor incorrectly reporting the estimated size of the final MPEG-2 file? I agree with you that I like Compressor better generally, but lately when we use Compressor it seems to give arbitrary, downright false file size estimates. Several times the file ended up being too large for the DVD and we lost all that render time because it gives false numbers. That’s what I was referring to in my post, but maybe it isn’t a widespread problem…
