I really want to get a away from VGA monitoring, and I would like to buy a big HD TV and go HDMI in (or DVI) in and use it for my monitor.

Where can I read about how to do this with my G5?

    thanks!

Do a search on the forums.

With a Kona all you need is Comoponent input. That’s what we use here. Or you can use HD-SDI inputs.

Panasonic Pro Plasma are the best out there for a really large HDTV and they come standard with Component inputs. Prices have fallen dramatically to about $1,100 for a 42″ which is amazing.

    yes !

tell us the exact model # of the TV you want to buy, and I will tell you how to hook it up with the Kona product.

it’s an Olevia 427v, but it’s native resolution is 1366×768, which seems to be a problem.

I may be confused about what is possible, but what i wanted was to use this HDTV for my computer monitor to replace the little dinky 17″ one i had. I bought this Olevia (a 27″ HDTV), but hooking up with VGA is wildly unspectacular. Instead of having more realestate for editing, i just having everything BIGGER, and with less resolution!! Arggghh!!

    Hey Bob,

I am going to take you up on your offer. My boss wants us to use his old Sony KV-34XBR910 HD Television on our Final Cut station. We are running FCS 2.0, with a Kona2. What is the best way to use the TV as an output monitor (3rd monitor for video)?

I was thinking something along the lines of a AJA HDP Convertor (DVI-D to HD-SD/SDI). Let me know if I am on the right track.
