    Hi all,

If anyone knows what this message means, I would greatly appreciate it! I’ve had these shutdowns a few times in the last month and this code looks Greek to me.

    Thanks all!!

Hi Bill, It looks like you are experiencing Kernel Panics which can be from a number of things but usually it’s a bad driver. According to that dump, these are the drivers on your Mac that are NOT from Apple:

    expressvpn.tun 1.0
    com.splashtop.driver.SRXFrameBufferConnector 1.6
    com.microsoft.driver.MicrosoftMouseUSB 8.2
    com.microsoft.driver.MicrosoftMouse 8.2
    com.splashtop.driver.SRXDisplayCard 1.6
    com.Cycling74.driver.Soundflower 1.6.6
    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver 4.1.48f99
    com.CalDigit.driver.CalDigitUSBxHCI 1.3.8a2
    com.metakine.handsoff.driver 2.1

I can see that you are using SplashTop display, a Microsoft Mouse, the Soundflower audio driver, LogMeIn sounds driver, CalDigital USB driver, and Metakine Inc. One Periodic – Hands Off!

From looking at that dump, I’m guessing that it’s your CalDigit storage device driver.

Here is the evidence that leads me to this conclusion. The backtrace which shows what code was executing just before the panic lists the CalDigit driver by name.

    Kernel Extensions in backtrace:
    com.CalDigit.driver.CalDigitUSBxHCI(1.3.8a2)[F4AA3EBC-9193-31D6-89AF-D7D1AF1192BF]@0xffffff7f8eb59000->0xffffff7f8eb75fff
    dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily(635.4.0)[E67F44F7-A4BD-3CD1-A01B-B37D783CE613]@0xffffff7f8e0e7000
    dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.8)[2FAEA49C-EA4C-39C6-9203-FC022277A43C]@0xffffff7f8dd7d000

BSD process name corresponding to current thread: kernel_task

A quick check of the CalDigit web site reveals this knowledge base article (interesting that they are acknowledging that customer are having problems with their drivers and macos 10.13):

How to manually delete software driver that is not working properly in 10.13?

You might also want to check out these articles on dealing with kernel panics in general:

Hope this helps, and good luck! (these are often hard to troubleshoot)
