Corrupted Quicktime files going from 10.9 to 10.8 OS
We have some Quicktime ProRes 422 video files that were used in an Adobe Premiere CC project. That project is complete and another editor needs to use the files. He is running 10.8.5. None of the files will open in Premiere on his system – or even Quicktime Player. We get a -50 error stating that the files are either damaged or corrupt. I tried the drive on multiple 10.8.5 and 10.8.3 systems – all with the same error message. However, I can take the drive back to the system with 10.9.1 and they all open and work just fine.
Oddly – there is 1 Quicktime ProRes file on the drive that works fine on all the systems.
Is the new Mac OS, or Premiere CC, changing the Quicktime files in a way that they become unplayable on older systems? Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Don Hertz
