    All,

After processing many hours of dailies for a particular production, shot 444 using the V4 Alexa firmware, it seems there is a corrupt take.
Outwardly, the file seems identical to all others.

The dailies processing software crashes when playing or rendering this particular take.
Even playing the clip in Quicktime on the desktop causes QT to crash.

Elsewhere on this list it is suggested that this is impossible.
Anyone else had this happen? – What did you do?

    hey Christy,

The only time I have seen clip corruption happen during the majority of productions is when the data transfer is incomplete when first processed by the onset Data manager.

I have only seen a corrupt Alexa Prores file when the content was set for “dual record” where the camera is writing the same content simultanously to both SxS cards as an incamera backup (dumb idea IMHO).
In that case the Card in Slot 1 always good and the courrpt data was always in Slot 2.

I am at the Createsphere events in NYC this week if you want to have someone look at the clip.

    Gary,
    Thanks for the input.
While I don’t discount it was a file copy error, production send us a copy of their on-set back up, which copied onto our san fine, then played and processed correctly…
I’d still be interested in your thoughts on the clip:
Please respond offlist chrism639_at_gmail_dot_com about how to get it to you.

    Thanks
    Christy
