I can expect a corrupt file to really f up my machine (xpress pro) every 4 to 5 months.
    Is this common?
Its a horrible horrible thing to happen. And for some reason the weed and seed method is a huge pain staking process. Usually I’ll have to empty the entire drive and start loading it back little by little from scratch

From what I’ve researched, usually it should only take weeding out some of the most recent files. Am I doing something wrong?

I have issues like that too, only it seems a tad more frequent, then again we burn through at least a few hundred files per week per machine (4 machines). It seems the machine will write a corrupt file and it isn’t always noticeable at first, and then over time as data is written around it on the harddisk it compounds the problems until they paralyze your system. I wish I had good advice, we have IT guys that get paid to hunt that stuff down and fix it. We use OMF’s, I’ve heard rumors that MXF’s are better about that kindof stuff.
But then again, I get corrupt files out of Final Cut Pro every now and again too, and though they don’t paralyze the computer and the software, they completely destroy the project.
Maybe somebody else has found a good way to hunt down corrupt files?
