  • corrupt file recovery?

I am editing a film on FCP, and suddenly my files have become corrupt and won’t open. The captured video QT files are okay. Only the FCP data files won’t work. I moved my work onto an external drive to try it on another computer, but same problem. It may have been either from a recent FCP update I did or from a Magic Bullet install. Don’t really know. Is there a safe way to recover corrupt files or reset FCP to get them to work again without losing my editing data? Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for the response. I will try to follow those steps as best I can to see if that is really my problem/solution. I’ll repost the outcome in case you or anyone else wants to know or also has a similar problem.

How about your auto backups. If your saving frequently you should only have a few things to do.

    Hope this helps-

No. The autosaves have the same problem. Every single FCP file on the computer is supposedly corrupt. Media is fine. FCP just doesn’t want to open its own files anymore.
