Correctly convert AVCHD 60i to DVD settings clarification

I’m not sure why you are rendering to a new track but that’s not the way to render for DVD. Just use File | Render As… and select MPEG2 and one of the DVD Architect widescreen templates.

Thanks for the responses guys. I’m still stuck here. The only way I have found to render the video and not get the lines is if I set the feild order to none(progressive) in the render to custom settings. I have read that I’m loosing 1/2 of my resolution by doing it this way though. Leaving everything with the stock HD 1080-60i properties template and DVDA widescreen NTSC template render settings yeild video with lines durring fast motion. I have tried every other combination of field order and deinterlace method all resulting in liney video.
Please help!!!!!!!!

It is possible that you action was too fast for 60i and the distance between the interlaced fields is just too much in which case the only solution is to throw half of the fields away. I assume you are viewing the results of the DVD on a physical interlaced TV set?

No actually I’m viewing this on a 1080p plasma via a PS3 (also seeing the lines on the computer monitor which I know is also progressive). This dvd needs to work on all setups. SD, HD, interlaced, progressive whatever.
How would I accomplish this?

Without seeing what you are seeing it’s difficult to say what’s going on. I can only tell you the correct way to create a DVD from AVCHD-60i. Make sure that you project uses the HD 1080-60i (1920×1080, 29.970 fps) template. Render with the DVD Architect NTSC Widescreen video stream template and the AC3 audio template.

If you want to render progressive use the DVD Architect 24p NTSC Widescreen video stream template. 24p is only “legal” progressive frame rate for DVD’s.

I’ve never seem to have this problem with any other project. Can I email you a sample clip? I really could use some help here.

OK, I downloaded your file and there is nothing wrong with it. It’s a typical NTSC Widescreen interlaced MPEG2 file.

(1) I watched it in Windows media Player and it looked fine.

(2) I placed it on the Sony Vegas Pro 9.0e timeline and watched the preview and saw the interfaces lines which I expected.

(3) I dropped it onto DVD Architect and previewed it on the Windows Secondary Monitor and it looked fine

(4) …and finally I burned it to DVD and watched it on my Samsung Blu-ray player through my Sony HDTV and it looked fine. Not a single interlaced line in sight.

The only place I saw the interlacing was within Vegas which is expected because you are previewing interlaced video on a progressive display without any de-interlacing.

I can only assume that either your PS3 does a poor job of deinterlacing DVD’s or it isn’t configured correctly for your progressive display but there is nothing wrong with that footage.

Wow ok thanks. Interesting. I’m seeing the lines durring fast arm and leg swings when played back in wmp and vlc on the computer and the same on my ps3 and plasma. I have an old DVD player somewhere that I’ll hook up to the plasma and try it later tonight. Thanks for your help.
