correcting luminance flickering on old B&W cine footage??
Hi guys,
Urgent help needed if you can pleeease! I have just been given some old black and white cine footage (on digi beta) and been asked to stop the luminance flicker, basically the producer thinks the constant changing of colour contrast will be annoying to the viewer. Does anyone out there know of a filter or manual way of removing this contrast changing flicker so it is a constant luminance/colour??

Give the Auto-Brightness/ Auto-Contrast/ Auto-Color effects a try they will not completely compensate, but it should be much more pleasant. Other than that apply a Levels effect and counter-animate the Gamma to compensate for the variations. Camera flicker is repetitive, so with the initial timing in place you could then simply apply a loopOut(“cycle”,0) expression to the Gamma control and it will repeat the cycle across the entire length of the footage.

No its footage from an old cine film shot in the early 1900s unfortunately.
