  • correcting flare/hot spot in frame inside FCP

    Hello,

I have a clip in the timeline that is a CU of an actor wearing sunglasses, who inadvertly looks across where a PA is holding up a large shiny reflector, and that reflects in the sunglasses, causing hot spots.

Is there a way to correct this inside FCP? This movement is about 60 frames long.

    Thanks

    Probably not.

You could play with layering the video, creating a very focused matte, maybe patching some pixels from another part of the glasses over the bad section, but using FCP for this sort of task is like using a spoon to cut cheese. You may achieve the basic goal, but it will take longer, and be a bit sloppy.

This would be more properly handled in After Effects or even better, Shake. It will take some know how and time to accomplish convincingly.

    Best,

Well first I would use the Color Correction Filter to patch it up a bit, then like Tom said, use layers and compsite the Tracks.

If you have Color or Shake use them.

    Hope this helps.
