  • Correct workflow when working with Linear DPX files

    Hi guys

Im doing my first DPX job in AE7 and i would like any information on the correct process to get my job back out to DigiBeta

The footage is greenscreen footage shot on 35mm.

It has been scanned and provided as Linear DPX files.

I have read Stu Maschwitzs site regarding Linear work profiles, but im getting lost.

    Heres what i have done:

Project settings are 32 bit with the Linear sRGB preset. I have applied the colour converter to my images with the input settings as sRGB and the output as Project Working Space.

I then apply my kelight filter, and will be then attempting to colour grade and composite.

I hope this has been correct so far. Im then abit lost as to how to render out for regular SD vision.

Furthermore, do i need to adjust my “proof set up” to kodak and check my proof colours.

What does the littel spiral icon mean on the bottom of the composition window. Will this affect my output or just the viewing of it on the monitor.

    Thanks for any suggestions
    Chris

This one I can answer… That’s an exposure control that appears when you’re working in 32bpc. It allows you to look at HDR footage in varying exposures, 0 is the default. I actually don’t know if it affects the output off the top of my head, but I’m sure you could do a very quick test render (even a frame) to find out.
