  • Correct Sequence Settings for XDCAM 1080p30

Posted by David Wheeler on March 13, 2009 at 2:49 am

I’m editing XDCAM footage shot at 1080p30. Frame size of the clips is 1920×1080. There are no options for 1920×1080 frame size in the sequence settings. When I set the sequence settings to 1920×1080, I have to render every edit (but not when the sequence setting is 1440×1080). When I set it to 1440×1080 my freeze frames are stretched. Maybe these are two different problems? What are the correct sequence settings?

    Thanks for your help!

try downloading this pdf from apple. it explains working with xdcam footage in fcp.

you should have some xdcam easy setup options if you installed the xdcam transfer software. if you use one of these easy setups, your sequence should match your footage and you should have no problem…

Thanks, Dan. I created a new sequence in the timeline and inserted a clip to let FCP set the sequence settings correctly and then copied the other clips into the new timeline. It may be that I created the original problem by inserting a 10 second slug as the first item in the timeline on the original sequence. It’s the only reason I can think of why FCP did not set up the setting correctly when I inserted the first clip. I have not tried making a freeze frame in the new sequence, but everything else is working well.

    Thanks for your help.
