  • Correct Channel Order for 5.1 Master

Hi. I’m just about to make the final video file masters of a feature film mixed in 5.1 and I’m wondering whether to make the ProRes masters with audio in the form L,C,R,Ls,Rs,Lfe (as protools produces it) or in he form L,R,C,Lfe,Ls,Rs (as DCPs require it)

The main use for the master would be to create DCPs of course.

    What is standard practise?

    Thanks

Proper 5.1 order according to SMPTE and the only order you should ever use:

    Ch1: L
    Ch2: R
    Ch3: C
    Ch4: LFE
    Ch5: Ls
    Ch6: Rs

Anybody who tells you different is attempting sabotage…
