  • correct bitrate settings and project settings?

    Hi there,

sorry this is a bit long ….I’m hoping someone can help me 🙂

Basically I’m building a wedding DVD inside Enocre… SD Pal (720×576)

I have the main feature video, short main menu background video and chapter video

My question is when I encode these to import into encore…obviously I encode as an .m2v file. I was wandering what sort of bit rate settings should I use? I have read that you should use between 6-6.5mbps max.

However, when I open a new project it asks me what sort of bit rate for the project as well … 7.0, 8.0, 9.4 mbps (which I’m told should be no mere than 8.0mbps).

I was wandering if it actually matters what bit rate the individual video assets are (maybe encode at the highest quality) …as Encore is going to adjust this to my project bit rate for that DVD anyway?

Also should I interlace my .m2v video assets when I encode them and bring into Encore …as I have seen a few tutorials where they seem to leave them as progressive …would encore interlace them at the end anyway when it burns the DVD.

    hope that makes sense

    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi

You dont say which version of Encore You use.

Using Encore 1.5 I used to encode to MPEG, but got fed up with the

    hassle.

I now assemble everything in My project folder as AVI’s, including any first plays etc.

I also make My menu’s in Photoshop 7,

Import AVI’s as assets & let Encore do the encoding.

I have just made the competition entry DVD’s for Our local camcorder

club, into this Years compilation to give to the Members.

I have done this for the last 6 years, Encore is fine, the only

problems I have is sorting out the various members DVD’s they are

many different standards & formats( and abilitys lol.

I am the youngest at 65, enough said.

    Regards.

    Peter.
