No, there is no real solution to this except to exit both programs, log off your user account then log on back again. This will clean the clipboard and things should work again (for a while at least).

i don’t know where to get it but somewhere in windows you can clear the clipboard. I think it’s a hidden built in feature. maybe a windows expert could help here.

Don’t worry, it’s quite normal. It is related to some buggyness in both apps and depends on a set of factors. It’s not always misbehaving and Julian may be absolutely telling the truth, but tehn again we don’t know much about his work. There’s no pattern to the madness – sometimes I can paste entire drawings with hundreds of points, some days not even a simple circle. Just like the various problems with text copy&paste, it remains a mystery. If you want to go thru the trouble, try to get rid of all fills and strokes on your drawings, this often improves things. You may also try to save a copy of your document as a older version of Illustrator, quit Illustrator, start it again and load your file. If you are lucky, you can work this way without any problems. and paste al lyour masks into AE without any interruption.

    # Begin by first clicking on the Start Button.
    # Then click on Run Icon, which will open up the Run Menu for you.
    # Locate the white area of the screen next to the word Open: in the Run Menu.
    # Now type in the abbreviated word Clipbrd and click on the OK button to launch the Program.
    # Notice how the Clipboard contains a record of your recent copy and paste inputs.
    # To empty your Clipboard, click on the word Edit located within your top tool bar area.
    # Then click on the word Delete from the pull down menu that appears.
    # Windows will ask you if you want to Clear the contents of the Clipboard.
    # Click on the Yes button to allow Windows to clear the Clipboard.
    # Notice how your former imputed information is now cleared from the Clipboard.
    # Then close the Clipbook Viewer Window to return to your Windows session.
