  • Copying & pasting footage when different length

I can’t figure this out – I have a set of tracks that are 5 secs long & I want to copy them but paste them into a space in my timeline that is 3 secs long. I don’t want to have to insert edit or mave any footage.

Is there a way to set an out point on the paste or anything else that will paste only 3 secs of my footage?

    Thx

Nope. FCP will pate the entire thing you have copied. if you want to paste only 3 seconds, only COPY three seconds.

Shane is right. It’s 3-point editing. Pick your edit points wisely from your source material. If you want to “fit to fill,” then you have to deal with the necessary adjustments afterwards.
