Copying P2 and QT issue
I noticed in Shane’s tutorial on bringing P2 files into the editing environment that he simply copied the media from the P2 cards into folders he created on an external drive. I had been doing it this way (quite successfully), until I read online either in this forum on the DVXUsers forum about the P2 media management software Panasonic provides for this purpose. Very spiffy interface. The suggestion was that using this software was a lot safer than just dragging files over to the drive.
But, I only tried it once. Why? Because the file transfer using Panasonic’s software hung after copying three-quarters of the media. The little progress wheel just spun there in place for fifteen minutes or so before I did a hard quit. Which is always a little scary when you’re dealing with precious footage.
I noticed that the media management software requests QT 7.2, and of course I’m running 7.3. Could that be the source of the software’s failure? And, with the release of QT 7.3.1, might the two co-exist happily if indeed the problem was due to incompatibility with v7.3?
I’m not in any hurry to update QT any more, with all of the problems that the v7.3 seemed to create. But, if this latest release fixes known conflicts, then I’m ready.

Could be that or something else- hard to say. You might also look into P2 Log- not free as P2 CMS but provides verified copying and is quite hardy:
