Copy/Paste Not Working in Vegas 22 (Version 250)
Posted by John Richards on July 2, 2025 at 3:36 pmAll of a sudden (I guess after an update), the paste function is not working. I can copy/cut a video file on the timeline, but the paste function is greyed out. I NEED to copy/paste, especially titles, so I don’t have to completely rebuild every lower-third. What is going on, Vegas? Thoughts anyone?

Copy & Paste is working OK in VEGAS Pro 22 – Build #250 on my Windows 11 machine.
You may have accidentally activated a setting, or something may have become corrupted in the VEGAS Pro settings after the upgrade to VP22. I have personally seen some weird stuff happen after some upgrades. Resetting VP normally fixes this type of thing.
What I recommend you try is a full program reset. This will clean/delete the Temporary Files Cache, Restore all functions to Default Settings, and re-scan for FX on your system. Just remember that if you have set some custom settings inside the Preferences (for example), you will have to reconfigure a few things after the reset.
I have full reset instructions on my website here:

July 9, 2025 at 11:13 pmYeah… it’s doing it again, and 2x resetting as you instructed did NOT fix it this time. This is ridiculous… copy/paste? THAT’S what stops working? A basic Windows function? Any other ideas to fix this issue? Thank you. Dave

July 17, 2025 at 10:29 pmHey John, that’s frustrating, especially since the reset seemed to work at first. If copy and paste is breaking again, it might be something in the background like a clipboard issue, a plugin conflict, or even a Vegas bug that came back after the update.
It’s not happening for everyone, so it could be system-specific. Try checking if it only breaks after switching windows, dragging media around, or working in certain projects.
As a quick workaround, you can Ctrl+drag clips to duplicate them, or save your titles as presets in the Media Generator so you don’t have to rebuild them from scratch.
Hope you find what’s causing it. Definitely let us know if you pin it down.
