Copy lighting from video on to an Image
Hello, im a beginner in after effects and i have a question.
I have a short clip of a closeup of a face which has purple/blue lighting on it (the light moves and changes color aswell). what i want to do is take an image of another face put it over the original clip and replicate the lighting from the original clip onto the image.
i hope that makes sense?
it doesn’t have to look proffesionall at all and i would prefer a less complex solution, if possible, so that i can quickly replicate it on other clips aswell.

There a so many ways to do this, but you asked for easy…
The easiest would be to create a couple of shape layers to be your lights and animate the position to emulate the actual lights. Then play with the transfer mode until you achieve the look you want. You might want to make multiple copies of your shape layer and adjust the size to create hot spots.
In my example, I used a loopout(“pingpong”) expression on the position. It makes the layer go back and forth between the the two keyframes forever. If you want to go that route, just create your keyframes, then alt+click position and copy the expression into the blank line.
