I have two projects. One a b-roll stringout of selects, the other an interview that I need to cover with those broll selects.

Since FCP has a trackless timeline, is it possible to copy and paste b-roll from one project to my interview project without overwriting the interview? It looks like the only way to do this is if I pick broll selects from the clip browser. From there I can append, overwrite etc…

Just not sure from one project to the other…

In FCP 7 there were tracks we could use to isolate what layer broll should go. Now with X I am a bit lost.

    Any workarounds here?

    Thanks!!

Copy>Paste as Connected Clip. Also you could use Compound Clips to accomplish this- https://www.larryjordan.biz/fcpx-compound-clip/

As james said… copy the B-Roll, and OPTION-Paste it onto the other timeline. easy. 🙂
