Copy AI path to AE for Write-on
I’ve drawn some elements in Illustrator and would like to use them as BOTH the image-to-reveal and the motion path in the Write-on effect. What is the best way to go about this? I don’t want to bring it in as image and then re-draw the path in AE, since I already have the path in AI.

Start with the online help system. Look for Illustrator in the index then find importing paths. It is a simple copy and paste procedure but, as with anything so seemingly easy, there are a few gotchas. They are explained in the help files.

Yes, I’ve checked the help file and watched Aharon’s tutorial. I think the problem that I’m having is that my path is not a closed shape; it’s more of a straight line. Is there any way to paste a “non-closed” path onto a position property?
