70’s film look & 20’s film look each with their own:
    – dust and scratches
    – film grains
    – telecine flicker
    – gate weave
    – gate matte

All done completely inside of resolve. Rather efficiently too, once you know how to do it.

I’d love to know how you did the gate weave & flicker.

Did you create them by hand with keyframing?

No. The gate weave is a PTZR node paste I store in the library. It’s a conceptual variation of Dan’s camera shake idea. I have an explanation and source files posted a couple weeks ago. Search for my “gate weave” thread. The flicker, dust, etc, were each a video plate loaded in as matte clips, but then added in loop track mode. (Feed the picture stream, not the alpha stream.) I’ll post a screen shot to better explain.

Oh, ok, now that you mention that the flicker’s a matte clip I can figure that part out, it makes sense.

Cool. I love it when a piece of software is so deep that you’re still learning tricks years into adopting it.

Or, BM could enable the OFX support and then all you’d have to do is to use Damage plugin, which is a part of Sapphire suite. Much better control and it takes no virtual gymnastics to achieve this very simple effect.
