Cool car commercial
Hey, I was just wondering if any of you gurus had seen a somewhat recent car commercial. I don’t remember the model/company (shows how effective it was) but it basically consists of a bunch of people running around with these panels of video. There’s no frame or anything, just something that looks like a card made out of moving video. What’s on the cards is similar to the background behind the person (a street, buildings, and the car), but also slightly different. The difference, however, does not look like something you could adjust in post. It looks kinda like it was taken in a separate shot, but I’m not sure. If no one knows this commercial I guess I will have to watch some tv and look for it so I can actually search for it online.

I know what your talking about, I remember its a foreign car of some sort.
Anyway, I’ve watched it quite a bit, it looks like the background that is being revealed is the same setting but adding the car, and then adding some image adjustments and off setting it so everything doesn’t line up perfectly.

That could very well be, and that’s what I thought at first, but some of the camera moves and things were so different that it seemed like it was different footage. I guess they could have shot the same background plate several times and then taken two similar but slightly different shots and then done the compositing and off-setting. I’m going to have to watch it again- maybe even try to record it.
