  • Cookie cutter creates artifacts, what to do?

    Hi!

I’m using cookie cutter to brighten certain area of a video, face of a dancer, and it moves along her. But when I added the effect and did my render, two layers look out of sync. But they are in sync and I specifically rendered without CC to check it. Why is that? I also tried rendering as 32 bit floating point as suggested on another thread but no success. The results are frustrating (although funny;-)).

    What to do?

Funny indeed, which version of Vegas is it?

You made me look into it more deeply and Vegas is not at fault, it’s the Neat Video plug-in what creates the artifacts. It’s not so bad (but still unusable) when added to the lower layer, but when I add it to upper layer, then it’s really bad.

I guess I can prerender those parts with CC into Avi clips and add them to the project again. Waste of time, energy and quality.

I see, you forgot to mention that you also used Neat Video.
Yes, it will put your work out of sync if not handled properly.
Its due to Temporal filtering, with a limitation of the Vegas
plugin architecture. Its been a long debate about this
and recent versions added a specific “No Lag Mode” feature
    to compensate.

    Thanks a lot Steve!

That solved it, ticked the ‘no lag mode’ and everything is ok.

Is that the only situation it’s useful or should I just keep it on all the time?
