I don’t know anything about Joomla, except it isn’t as popular as WordPress which seems to have everything going for it including a fast growing page builder market letting the non-coder like myself achieve almost anything.

But I was curious. Maybe Joomla is less popular, and possibly not as user friendly but better at SEO? So a minor amount of googling seems to give the award to WordPress in SEO as well.

Here’s a 2012 evaluation that calls WordPress the clear winner:
    https://www.sitepoint.com/wordpress-v-joomla-search-engine-optimization/

and one from 2018 that claims Joomla has a slight edge out of the box, but once you take advantage of Yoast plugin for WordPress, it wins:

I personally haven’t heard of anyone dumping WordPress for Joomla. And from the results above, it would seem that utilization of the tools available would be the best track forward no matter which platform you’re’ on. Certainly not worth the aggravation of switching. I’m going to have to start using Yoast myself!

By the way the site looks good and certainly seems to have the name, content, etc. for good SEO. But a google search doesn’t bring it up for the obvious terms. Looks like a very competitive market for sure. Maybe there are sites that can cross post or the other companies are just very well established? I’d try and see what they’re doing to get the SEO. Might be worth paying for sponsored spots. Seems to be a lot of those and you’re always going to compete with them.

Did you read something or hear something that made you think Joomla was better at SEO?

No, your platform is not going to help your ranking. Good SEO and a mobile-friendly interface will be the two biggest factors that will aid your ranking.

[Bret Williams] “I personally haven’t heard of anyone dumping WordPress for Joomla.”

It would be a very counter-productive move. We looked at Joomla in-depth because our chief engineer already knew Joomla but out upcoming new interface will be WordPress, even though it took a lot longer to build as we had to learn WP, even though we already knew Joomla. But at the present, Joomla is falling far behind WordPress and the speed of development of WP will further spread the distance it has in the lead.
