    Hey all,

I’ve made a slide show of 388 still pictures with music, this is my first attempt at saving the slide show as an avi file but seem to get high file sizes, the first try was default template and got 46.1 gig then I tried a HD recording at HD 1080-60i YUV and got 784 gig file, I then tried to burn a vcd but the quality isn’t good enough. I’m trying to get the file onto either cd or dvd so it’ll play in an ordinary dvd player, so I thought saving as an avi then convert to vob and sub so the dvd player can play the disc, can anyone help me with the settings on vegas to get a good enough quality recording so I can convert the avi to vob for dvd?

Render to MainConcept MPEG2 using one of DVD Architect templates and then render the audio separately as Dolby Digital AC3 and you should be fine. DVD’s require MPEG2 video.

Thanks John, another quick question, once I have both files what program would I use to put them together onto a dvd?

I’m not John but DVD Architect is what you’d use.

Mike is correct and to be more detailed, DVD Architect will pull in your audio file with the video file if they are named the same (i.e., myVideo.mpg and myVideo.ac3). So name them the same and drop the video file into DVD Architect and the audio will show up as well.

I am a novice to creating videos and have found that when I render the video files in avi, wmv, or other format, then upload them, they cannot be opened as other programs do not recognize them. Can anyone help with this.

What is the purpose of uploading the files? If it’s primarily so that other can download them to view them I would use the Sony AVC codec with one of the Internet templates. This will make MP4 files that anyone with Quicktime (PC or Mac) can play.
