Converting NVENC to Editing Format for Vegas
Hey,
Have a lot of footage in NVENC and it’s very very slow / laggy for editing in vegas, so wanted to convert it to a format that Vegas can handle as well as it does Matrox / Pro Res / Cineform / ut so I can edit smoothly.
Does anybody know a good converter / format that is fast and loses as little quality as possible. Does Handbreak or something similar achieve this? -

Which codec is it? H264 or h265? The converter used will depend on that.
I would advise using cineform with Vegas.

Hey, it is NVENC H.264. And it has 5 separate audio tracks which I need to keep separate when converted.
File sizes are generally 50gb for 2 hours recording and need something that converts as quick as possible.
Used to use Matrox codec which is very fast in Vegas for editing, but is quite CPU intensive when recording the footage originally and file sizes are large.
By fast I mean how quick it scrub updates in the preview window and when dragging the end of a clip etc. and NVENC h.264 is terrible for this. -
Have you tried the proxy function in Vegas? Might help you as well.

Your footage is AVC at 100FPS it looks like. Most of the normal Sony AVC-intra, HDCAM-SR-Lite, or XDCAM codecs would be the best choices to convert to, but they will not support the non-video standard frame rate of 100. Cineform in the AVI format looks like it will support the 100 FPS.
