Converting HDV to ProRes422 from Sony HVR record unit
Hey guys, I’m a cc newbie….great site!
OK, I’m capturing HDV from my Canon XLH1 directly onto a Sony HVR CF card Recording Unit and I’m trying to get into Apple ProRes422 prior to editing. (I’m editing in FCP on a MacPro) Is there a way to make this conversion during the download process of my CF cards onto my computers main harddrive? Help!

Nope. You can only transcode after you import.

Thanks for the response and the info. Don’t mean to be a bother but my 20 years of experience has been completely film and DV so some of these HD conversions/workflow are new to me.
So am I going to have to use something like ClipWrap to convert m2t files to mov. then import them and then export them as prores422? Any transcoding advice?
